I am fully aware of housing shortage but object to all the future planning for the following reasons;
1. Roads are already congested without extra cars and need improvements. The bus service is unreliable.
2. Infrastructure - more housing, more cars with roads already congested.
3. Wildlife - this should be considered, wildlife has as much right to life as us.
4. Public footpaths and bridleways - their loss is irreplaceable!
5. Flooding - Council report does not mention the flooding of Hawkwell Brook, a tidal river, in 1968 and 2013. How will the flood risk be dealt with?
6. Air quality - if traffic increases there will be more pollution. How will that be dealt with?
7. Access to vital services - will this be in walking distance of these services?
8. Education - schools are already full - more schools needed!
9. Infrastructure - infrastructure first!! This has not happened in the past but should be always issued!
10. CFS045 - this was in the past common land. How will this affect road planning?
11. CFS064 - without future building, traffic congestion here already. Another thought for road planning

Air pollution around the school is already excessive. The B1013 is already one of the busiest B roads in Britain, but will be the only access unless a major railway bridge is built. So much new housing in Rochford but no new schools, shops or facilities, meaning even more delivery vans on said road.
All the incomers pave over their gardens; green space is fast disappearing.

This is irreplaceable green belt agricultural land with a well-used perimeter footpath. Hockley primary (near) is already near to everyday air pollution from parents picking up and sometimes leaving idling cars.
The nearby B1013 is one of the busiest if not the busiest B road in England and more cars will impact on this and roads on Betts Farm estate. The beautiful woodlands will be impacted by building work and car fumes. There are already enough houses in this particular area.

I object to the use of this land for housing for the following reasons:
it is a well used area of green space which is extremely important for my mental and physical health. I walk the dog here daily and see many others doing the same on a regular basis. Walking through a housing estate would not be the same! I also worry about the impact of so many houses putting strain on the woods nearby. I also have huge concerns over the access to this site. The increased traffic will have huge consequences on the environment, noise pollution and safety of my family. There are several other sites with far better access and less impact.
This development would completely undermine all the reasons I chose to live in this area!

I will be as brief as possible as there are so many reasons why this site would be entirely inappropriate for development.
Firstly, you have the area surrounded by ancient woods that need to be preserved, as well as the flora and fauna that exist and depend on this environment.
The impact on the residents in the immediate area would be affected by increased traffic problems. Apart from the strain that congestion causes there is the health issue of residents to consider from additional pollution. Negotiating the Betts Farm area at school times is already a problem with volume of cars.
I would lastly like to comment on the impact this would have on the well-being, physically and mentally of Betts Farm residents. The footpath area is used by many of us regularly to walk and exercise and the impact it would have on us to lose this open space would be enormous and devastating.

I am against the farmers field behind Hockley Community Centre being built on. 1. South East Essex is already overpopulated. 2. The roads can't cope especially during the rush period / school run. 3. More people mean more pressure on our local NHS and Police. 4. This field is used for crop growing, we can't afford to lose any more loss of farmland in the UK. This field has public footpaths used by many people on both sides of the railway line. Wildlife in Betts Wood would be trapped there. 5. We've just had a large development put up on Hall Road, Rochford now there's another in Hullbridge on land that has been known to flood in the past and a huge estate between Rawreth lane and London Road in Rayleigh!! Just how much more do you expect us to take? When's it going to stop? 6. Local schools will come under pressure too. The whole of South Essex i.e.., RDC, CPDC and SBC have been over developed and are overpopulated. Time to call a halt.

I object strongly to the farmer's field behind Hockley Community Centre to be used for housing. The impact it would make for our local community would be devastating.
I have walked our dogs for more than 30 years along the footpath and woods. Many, many people use it for dog walking as it is difficult to cross the busy B1013 to Hockley Woods. Betts Wood alone has a badgers sett and foxes den, owls and bluebells, what happens to this wildlife if surrounded by buildings?
I would respectfully suggest that all who have put forward this proposal take a long leisurely walk around the whole area and take in the beautiful countryside and ancient woodland. It would break my heart to see it destroyed and all who I know locally feel the same way. Once it is gone it is forever.
The traffic getting in and out of Betts estate onto the B1013 is difficult at the best of times especially rush hour and when the children at Hockley Primary School are going to and from school. Buckingham Road is dangerous now with accidents frequently caused by speeding traffic, parked cars and bendy roads. This proposed estate will double the traffic, the little roads would not cope. Traffic through Hockley town centre is frequently at a standstill. The new estate built off of Folly Lane hasn't helped.
If the owner of the farmer's field is desperate to sell I would like to suggest that the area would make a wonderful open space for the people of Hockley to enjoy.
Please, please reconsider this building plan.

This field is frequently used by me and many other local residents. The field and surrounding woodland provide an important part of my daily mental health routine.

Furthermore, the biodiversity which this field and surrounding ancient woodlands facilitates is significant, not only to those nearby, but also to native wildlife more broadly.

Moreover, the significant increase in traffic congestion, coupled with a lacking increase in infrastructure in the local area is highly likely to negatively affect the general standard of living for the residents of the Betts Farm estate and the rest of Hockley.

This land was greenbelted for a reason; that reason has not gone away.

The B1013 is already heavily congested and above capacity. Further housing would put unnecessary strain on this.
There are multiple other sites in the Rochford District which have better access options and could be used for infill. For example, there is a large green pocket of land on the Rayleigh / Eastwood border with multiple access points, including to the A127 and the Eastwood Road. Surely a location like this with existing infrastructure would be the sensible option to develop first.

The site at Betts Farm is surrounded by 3 ancient woodlands and is teaming with wildlife. On the Betts Farm estate we see bats, foxes, and badgers which the field and woodlands support. Further development would negatively impact this.

1. The field has a well used footpath running along its perimeter. The current pandemic has highlighted how important such areas are.
2. There is already too much traffic on the B1013.
3. The only access would be via Folly Chase and Westminster Drive. Both are not viable in my opinion.
4. This field is also surrounded by 3 small ancient woodlands which would be badly affected by any development.
5. The field and woodland is an important habitat for wildlife.
6. I understand the land that the community centre is built on is owned by the council. The lease has only a few years left. Any plans to use this land as access would mean yet another community asset being sacrificed for housing. There is no room!
