I am both shocked and appalled that a piece of land close to the nearby school and local business's could even be considered. I take it that the local farmer is to be approached and this land to be purchased, as it is currently used for crop growing and therfore not already owned by Rochford council !
Adjacent Paddocks for horses is also another consideration.
If a need must be met surely option Gt1 would be more suitable.
Do travellers actually pay council tax !!!

This location is too close to existing residential dwellings. The impact of traveler sites on the local community is best demonstrated by that which has happened at Crays Hill. RDC should learn by other DC's mistakes.

Surely this location is adjacent to proposed development dwellings in this document. I see this as a negative loction, people will be reluctant to purchase houses, or it will limit the selling price of said development/

I disagree that this site would offer potential for increased community cohesion and integration - it is 'out on a limb'. Moreover it would seem to unnecessarily take green belt land and create access problems for areas to the south of the site.

I object to Option GT3. The proposal to site Gypsy's and Travellers close to a primary school, a busy residential area and playing fields with access from an already congested road is not as suggested "increased community cohesion and integration" it's a potential plan for disaster. This will be further compounded if Options E13,14,15, and 16 are implemented.

I object to this proposal! As soon as you come off the A1245 and enter Rayleigh via the A129 the first thing you will see is a traveller site! Not a good 1st impression of such a historic town. The A129 at this location during rush hour and at weekends is always congested, without having increased traffic coming to/from a travellers site! Not only is this unsuitable due to infrastructure but how long before they take over the whole field!? What schools will they use? Who will clear the litter? GT4 or GT5 is Much more suited & self contained

I am objecting as I feel this area is too close to the primary school and the concerns I have around this as a local resident. I also feel that the additional vehicle access to and from the location is dangerous on what is a very busy road. This seems to be a whole unsuitable site and would set a precedent that is not acceptable, if growth occurs on this site it will impact greatly on the local residents and the amenities locally.

I strongly object to the proposal of a Traveller's Site at your reference GT3. This road is very busy and there is considerable development underway with new housing at the side of the EON offices which will increase traffic congestion. Local school and peak time traffic also cause much disruption. The other options at GT1 and GT2 seem slightly more suitable as they are slightly more removed from school congestion and traffic entering Rayleigh.I hope you will take into consideration the concerns of local residents.

I live in Louis Drive West and I am writing to say how strongly I object to there being a proposed travellers site being put in London Road . I moved to Rayleigh five years ago because, as a retired lady, I wanted to spend my retirement in a lovely peaceful environment . That is the reason I bought a property in Louis Drive West so that I could walk to the top of my road and see green fields. Not rows of houses and caravans. To put the Travellers Site next to Swallows Aquatics would upset a lot of people especially the elderly.

I do realise however that the travellers have to go somewhere so why not allocate them where there are already travellers on the A1245 opposite View Nurseries or on the site at the junction of A127 and A1245. I am sure this would be the best and happiest solution for everyone. I do hope you consider the people already living in Rayleigh who make Rayleigh such a lovely place to live. Please don't spoil it for us.

I object to Option GT3.
The proposal to site Gypsy's and Travellers close to a primary school, a very busy residential area and recreational fields which all have access from an already congested road, is not as suggested in the option as
"increasing community cohesion". It has the potential causing further problems to an already crowded situation, as
will either of the options E13, 14, 15 and 16, if they are implemented.

I do not think that the site should be near a primary school, local playing fields or residential property. You mention throughout that residential settlement is essential. However, it is evident from the news and media coverage that travellers have no interest in integrating with the local community. I therefore would strongly recommend that GT6 option should be used.

strongly object to this option on the grounds that the site is far to close to local schools, residential areas and businesses.the idealistic argument of community cohesion is at best naive and will never happen,'travellers' are not interested in joining the local community and visa versa.smaller sites of no more than 3 to 4 pitches evenly spread throughout the district would be a prefered fairer option,if it is seen necessary to accommadate the needs of 'travellers' in rochford.given the well publicised experiences of others it is shocking that rdc would consider such a large concentration of 'travellers' in one area. NO

I strongly object to this site to be used as a travellers site. We have a lovely community and it is not appropriate to house travellers within the centre of a town, next to a catholic school. There are enough sites that travellers can use without making more of them in a residential area. Rayleigh is a historic market town and should be kept this way. There are other small sites across the district that could be used instead.

I find option GT3 unacceptable. The close proximity to existing and proposed residential properties is unwelcome. The loss of the rural nature of this plot would be most unfortunate and risks the nature of the approach to Rayleigh along the A129 changing its rural character.

I strongly object to proposal GT3. The potential impact on the local community should be carefully considered. This site is far too close to a Primary school and residential areas. London Road is already busy especially at peak times and new houses are being built nearby. What will be the impact on their price? A travellers site is not the ideal first thing to see on entering Rayleigh. This land is currently used for crops and I strongly object to any loss of agricultural, woodland or green belt land.

I strongly object to this location for a travellers site due to the close proximity to Our Lady of Ransom Primary School and the existing housing estates. I am concerned about the possible increase in crime, the unsuitability of the land which floods regularly and the access on to the London Road. I am also concerned about the accumulation of rubbish which is always associated with such sites.

I have a fundamental problem with the fact that most of my local community are still unaware of this and other proposals which will severely impact all those who live in the Rayleigh area. It is quite clear that the Council could just say No to all these options and throw it back to whoever it was who suggested such a large increase in pitches in the first place.
However, assuming this isn't going to happen, surely GT6 represents the best option as it self contained. Option GT3 is quite a ridiculous idea, it is so close to the local community and a great local school both of which would be hit by the detrimental affect of travellers.
Integrating into the community, please get real, this is the last thing on their minds.
