- This is green belt land which is adjacent to a field (with community centre which is well used to the front) + 3 ancient woods which supports a thriving wildlife. These are well used recreational areas for families, walkers & groups etc.

The levels of pollution will rise causing damage to the environment and our health with the additional increase of traffic in and around the Betts Farm Estate and the already over burdened only main road running through Hockley which has become heavily congested in recent years due to the many other 'new builds' in this and neighbouring areas.

Hockley simply cannot cope with more additional traffic, housing, it is also at straining point with no infrastructure in place for the extra places needed for doctors surgeries, schools, nurseries etc etc.

I have lived here for sixty-one years and am writing to record my strong objection to the possibility of 39 new homes being built on a plot at the end of the road that is included in the new 'Local Plan'.

This is land north of Merryfields Avenue Hockley, which has been given a site reference of CFS024.

The number of cars around me has increased over the years from one in ten households when I first moved here, to multiple cars at most properties and had a real impact on the narrow roads. So, the idea of such a high number of extra cars is extremely concerning, particularly since the residents have had to oppose similar proposals on this land on previous occasions.

We were assured after the last time when a smaller housing development proposal was firmly turned down, that this would be an end to such applications due to the land being within the Greenbelt, and so many of the trees on the plot having protection orders.

Nothing has changed in terms of the local infrastructure and facilities to accommodate a further development since the last application was turned down a couple of years ago, indeed the local traffic congestion has got worse.

Finally, the idea of having the noise and heavy traffic that comes with having a large building site over many months is most upsetting, so please reject this proposal.

New Local Plan - CFS074

I am writing regarding the proposal to build on fields near Mount Bovers Lane. I object to development on this land because:-

1. Open spaces
There are few "gaps" in the housing developments in Hawkwell. I wish to preserve this one. I often walk or jog up Mount Bovers Lane across the field and back down Gusted hall Lane. I value this route for exercise and enjoy the views. Routes like this are important for the mental and physical health of Hawkwell residents like me. Additionally, there is a potential for adverse effects on wildlife.

2. Bridleway
I trust that for the mutual benefit of riders and other road users, the plan is to retain the bridleway, whatever the decision on housing.

3. Infrastructure / traffic
The additional traffic from any housing development will feed on to (the already crowded) B1013.
I commute daily using the B1013. ( I am not against using public transport and commuted by train for 12 years until my employer moved offices to a remote location, not serviced by trains / buses). I often queue to leave Hawkwell, the queue for the Spa beginning at the White heart. I frequently queue in the evenings to re-enter Hawkwell, the queue beginning at Bullwood Hall. I sometimes feel "trapped" in Hawkwell by reason of the few "escape routes" available by road, often exacerbated by roadworks. I was told that the B1013 is the third - busiest B road in Britain. I wouldn't be surprised id this were still true. I will continue to oppose CFS074 and any proposed housing development until new escape-routes are added.

4. Air Quality
Additional housing leads to additional traffic leads to deteriorating air quality.

My main objection to further house-building is traffic congestion. The routes in and out of Hockley and Hawkwell are restricted by the presence of a railway line. Road works (last week outside the Cock Inn, and this week at the Rectory Road railway bridge) only add to the problems. Further house-building, without additional road-building, will increase congestion and air pollution.

I object to the field site (CFS064) being used for housing. Housing on this field site will impact greatly on the traffic flor through the Betts Farm Estate. The B1013 is frequently congested and this CFS064 will increase the traffic. In the event of an emergency it is difficult to navigate swiftly, local residents experience slow moving traffic, increased traffic fumes and delays in journey times. Local doctors and schools are oversubscribed. There is no infrastructure in place to accommodate the additional planned housing. Losing yet more green land deprives residents especially children of footpaths and spoils the woodlands. There is no viable exit/entrance route that does not spoil the environment.
At a time when health of residents and especially children should be a higher priority than building on an area surrounded by woodland and removing the designated pathways would appear to take little account of the need for exercise, nor the hope of encouraging children to take an interest in their environment.

Housing on CFS064 will place 214 houses and probably a minimum of 321 additional cars in a vicinity already experiencing traffic congestion. Minor roads on the estate are not suitable for additional car use. Planning should take account of current residents and certainly of the infrastructure required for an additional 214 houses. Placing possibly 400+ adults and 400+ children requiring local services, this needs careful consideration. Are local services, e.g. fire, police, ambulance, refuse collection, schools, doctors, hospitals, clinics actually able to cope effectively with so many additional demands?

Certainly roads will be overcrowded. Cycling will not be a viable option. Child road safety will become an issue and yet children need to be able to play outside. The plan does not seem to work in the interests of a more healthy and greener Britain.

- The local school (Hockley Primary) is already oversubscribed and there are not enough spaces for new families.
- The local healthcare services are full and its difficult to get doctors or dentists appointments. More housing on the estate would make it almost impossible.
- There are ancient woodlands surrounding the field and I'm sure the building work would badly affect these.
