Representation Summary:

None of the Hockley/Hawkwell sites are suitable as they involve the destruction of Green Belt land. The only development permitted should be on brownfield sites, but the Council doesn't have the vision to do this. Its easier to allow developers to take the easy option and build on land that makes life in Hockley worth living. No consideration has also been given to the lack of space in local schools, doctors surgeries and so on

Full text:

None if the proposed sites within Hockley or Hawkwell are suitable for any form of development as they either involve destruction of agricultural land or woodland. Hockley is a village and development of the sort proposed would ruin the whole feel of the village. The proposal to build houses behind Hockley Primary school is particularly ridiculous as there is no access. the only way to gain access would be to bulldoze a road through an area of woodland, take a private road into public ownership, to build a road through the playing fields of Hockley Primary or to destroy Hockley Community centre. The access road to Hockley Community centre is a narrow road with housing close to the road. This leads to Buckingham Road, which already has traffic issues with cars driving too quickly and noise pollution from existing traffic. This would exacerbate these issues considerably causing distress to residents

We dont need more housing for people from outside of the area, the idea that the housing being build is used by local people is utter rubbish. Most of the new houses are purchased by people coming from outside the area (mainly the london boroughs). We dont need more retail space we cant use what we have already. We need open spaces not houses

CFS118
This area is currently designated as both Greenfield & Green Belt land, it was previously heavily defended as such, whilst the "Clements Gate" development was being constructed and as part of that planning permission approval a106 legal agreement was enforced to protect the site
This was to avoid overdevelopment and retain level of "Green separation from Rectory road this is just one example of an area that clearly needs to be retained to maintain the status que regarding overdevelopment being added to a list that takes neither the environment, local infrastructure or local residents concerns into account.

Full text:

These sites, if advanced for development are a clear attack on the Green Belt and in particular go against the decisions of previous planning approvals
i.e. CFS118 the proposed use of the Paddock by Clements Hall Way, Rectory Road SS5 4LR
This area is currently designated as both Greenfield & Green Belt land, it was previously heavily defended as such, whilst the "Clements Gate" development was being constructed and as part of that planning permission approval, it was only on appeal at the third time of asking that it went forward and at that time a section 106 legal agreement was enforced to protect the site -
'3.2.3 The Owner shall only use the Paddocks for agriculture, horticulture, forestry, grazing or as open land so as to ensure that they remain un-built upon except for any buildings ancillary to such permitted use and provide open space which mitigates the visual impact of the Development on the area in which the Site is situated.'
The "Paddocks" were originally established along Rectory Road to avoid overdevelopment and retain level of "Green separation from Rectory road, All development was to be prohibited bar the addition of one house and the retention of 352 Rectory Road because it houses a bat roost. this is just one example of an area that clearly needs to be retained to maintain the status que regarding overdevelopment being added to a list that takes neither the environment, local infrastructure or local residents concerns into account.

Hockley is residentially full. I object to the proposals of new housing developments being built. No more housing developments!
However, I support any sensible plans that would attract new commercial wealth to Hockley.
Similarly, I support any plans to promote green, common land for the residents if Hockley to enjoy more 'green' and nature. I also welcome any potential plans for the expansion of education, healthcare and communal services. What is a council for if not this purpose?

There is the option of utilising this for Commercial but as wih Education, the proposed area is too small. Any development on this site would not bring more traffic to the area in the long run as if the current business was operating at the size of Potash nursery (its nearest rival in Hawkwell) traffic concern would be a lot higher. I remember as a youngster when Auto plas (now the Highwell gardens housing development) & Lentern Aircraft (now STS) were operating at capacity this road was a car park most days with vehicles parked on the main road.

Full text:

I would expect CFS262 the land at Rawal Pindi to be a fine candidate for development of some kind as this is right in the eyeline of the area & needs modernisation. I would not agree with any type of traveller site as this always brings trouble, ill feeling with locals & waste being discarded in the sreas, The site in particular could be used as an extension to the current development on 2 sides (North & East of the property) whilst keeping the lovely green well maintained area on the bend in the road.

This piece of land was once owned by a person who never wanted any building to take place on it but since his demise his family have constantly wanted to build on the land for their own gains.
39 homes on this small piece of land is ridiculous. There is not the infrastructure to accommodate any more homes in the Hockley, Hawkwell areas. It is a logistical nightmare getting out of Hockley for work rest or play let alone building more properties.
Also what about the doctors, dentists etc; etc; let alone the wildlife that will disappear.

This area has become unused and scruffy from the main road, the area needs to be completely modernised with new homes to complete the areas around it which have recently been developed.

Living within a 2 minutes of walk of this site and regularly walking past this potential plot with my family to Gusted Hall this area needs to be significantly improved

CFS064 - Whilst in general not opposed to building additional housing in the area, before any more large developments the infrastructure of the area needs major improvements. The slightest issue on the B1013 these days causes massive disruption/pollution on a road that is in an extremely bad state of repair and inadequate for the existing levels of traffic. It’s not just the roads though. Where’s all the new medical and education facilities that have been promised on other major developments in the area that haven’t materialised. Same reasoning applies to CFS082 and CFS074.
