Perfect location.
I disagree however with the description "would result in a distinct isolated community and lack of community cohesion" whenever have they tried integrating?
It is clear that they would favour a location like this and we should support this.
offers them access to all major road networks in the area so the travellers can do what they do best...... Travel!?
This site is also large enough to house all pitches without impacting on any established residential areas

This site is far too large and isolated and it could easily be occupied by large numbers of travellers over and above the 18 pitch target for the Council. It's isolation would mean that activities within the site area would not be able to be policed and it could easily be turned into a no go area camp as has happened in Essex .
This site would be very difficult to service and control and could easily become a major problem area for all the local community.

This site is massive and to beleive that only an additional few site will be used is silly. Many more travellers will just turn up to take advantage of the size of this site. It should also be noted that most travellers do not want to intergrate into the society so why are we putting them in this locatioin.

Travelling families do not always want to intergrate into existing settlements, a site of this size and location would offer the opportunity for a traveller site where traveller cohesion can continue, it has good access to main roads and is within a reasonable distant of Rayleigh, Basildon and Wickford town centres. In addition the land on the opposite side of the A1245, north of the A127 and East of the A1245 should be considered, it is a large site and again could accomodate a traveller community

Maybe it is just our perception but shouldn't travellers always be located nearer the highway for purposes of travelling, and I should not think it would unduly worry them that they are located some way from any residential settlement as we would assume they would prefer to be in a distinct isolated community and not have any community cohesion. Having one larger sites with the full allocation would be more manageable and provide a better community environment solely for the travellers needs.

This area is well served by good transport links with access already there onto the A1245. The site is already used for storage of old tyres and building materials from what I can see, so there is no farmland lost. The site is also big enough for the allocation so no further allocations would be required and with a reasonable number of traveller families there they would have their own community which they tend to prefer anyway. I have yet to hear of community integration working anywhere with permanent housing.

The additional sites that have been identified for the travelling community is certainly not one that should be considered in this area. I appreciate that we should be supporting them and the community should not be tarred with the brush of the occasional ones that cause local issues. However, statistics are clearly evident that crime may increase within the local areas and unfortunately, as we have seen in the surrounding area of Basildon, there is a tendency for the perimeters and numbers to grow to an uncontrollable level.

I totally object to this proposal. As has been seen elsewhere traveller sites appear to grow without any real control and a this is such an 'open' site I beleive it would soon become a lot bigger than the proposal. I believe Rayleigh would be overrun with the traveller community and would not be such a nice place to live. From experience of the sites near Basildon, I believe there would be an increase in crime and anti social behaviour and there would be little the Police or Council could/would do to control these people.

Site would need to be managed carefully regarding road access, but if this could be accommodated this seems like a more apprioriate site than many. Experience has taught me that travellers have no wish to integrate and trying to force them to do so by locating them in existing developments is a fool's errand, actually increasing tensions / resentment in the communities. Only concern is size of site - far bigger than that required for 18 pitches - so limiting the size of the permitted development would be important.

There is a traveller site on the A1245 surely this is sufficient for the Rayleigh area, and other parts of the district should take their share. It also gives the opportunity for an illegal extension to become a large site. Given the problem at Crays Hill with police fearing to go on the site, all traveller sites should be kept small with no opportunity for them to made larger. Travellers do not wish to integrate with the community, they are travellers and travel so do not integrate.
