Full text:

We are objecting to the proposals to greatly expand Southend airport. Whilst there may be arguments for such an expansion leading to benefits through increased trade in the local area, these are far outweighed by the disturbance that will be experienced by local residents.
The expansion will lead to an increased number of flights taking off and landing over the currently peaceful Leigh-on-Sea area, an oasis of calm in South Essex. The resulting noise and pollution will make our lives extremely unpleasant. The traffic on our roads which are already extremely busy will become heavier, with further air pollution.
There is already a large airport in Stansted. We do not want another large airport in Essex.
If Southend Council press ahead with this proposal, putting business interests above local people, they can experience a barrage of protests and unpopularity will see the current Council leaders removed from office.
Please see sense and stop this expansion.
