I wish to see Southend (EGMC) returned to how it was in it's hayday. I could go to places on 737's out of Southend. I know of business users who have to land at London airports to come to Shoebury. It would make much more sense for them to be able to come to Southend direct. I hope that there will still be a place for General Aviation (light aircraft) at Southend. I think that people who live near the airport should not worry as we have had 737's before, and if you move near an airport, you should expect to see/hear aircraft. As the expansion will have minimal effect on the neighbouring area, I am in full support of it. I can understand people complaining about major disruptions like at Stanstead, but at Southend it is a simple solution to local employment growth.
