There needs to be a distinction drawn between Gt Wakering and Little Wakering and Barling. Great Wakering has the feel of being a large village or even small town. This tends to appeal more to people for whom easy access to shops, pubs and particularly the school is important. The outer areas tend more towards a slightly older demographic for whom the lack of direct access to facilities is more than offset by the openness of the area, the larger plots and more peaceful environment. Many people have moved to these areas to avoid the congestion of more built-up areas.
