I feel the most important requirement for the development of the Wakerings and Barling is the protection of our green belt land. This needs to be considered with the utmost importance in the vision for the Wakering and Barling, we cannot replace all our green belt areas with housing developments. I do not feel this has been highlighted enough in the vision with several of the proposed site being existing green belt and agricultural land. We did not move to this area for it to become an extension of Shoeburyness, the preservation of the rural village feel is key.

The villages should remain as villages and not developed any further. People move to a village for a variety of reasons and not to be in a town. I like living in a village and object strongly that the council are allowing it be a small town, Has consideration been giving to the flood plain?

Whilst I agree that Barling should remain mainly rural most residents are depentant on shops and services in Southend - Thorpe Bay, Southchurch and Waitrose, not Rochford or Shoebury. Therefor any increase in development in Barling or the wider area must have reference to maintaining and or improving transport links and better access for private and delivery vehicles etc.

We have had way more than our fair share of developments in Great Wakering. It's all very well having a vision that developments will be for local needs but they clearly haven't been thus far.

There doesn't appear to be any mention in the proposal about the proximity to the testing ranges. Is there not a limit on the amount of houses and distance away etc. Also would they need to comment as access to their site is through the village and therefore if the infrastructure of the roads is change this could have a negative impact on them too.

People move to this area for exactly the opposite of your so call vision, more like misery statement. There is no call from the local residents to be more joined up, no call for more amenities , no call for more shops, no cal to be less reliant on neighbouring towns and no call to be more self sufficient. Where on earth did you get this ridiculous vision from certainly not from the residents

No further infrastructure has been proposed in the plans. Doctor surgeries are already exhausted and overloaded.
Farm land is a key part of our community.
How many of these new developments will be for social benefits dependants that will bring crime to the low crime community.
Once again a lovely small community ball dosed by the local governments unlawful doing.

Local development will cause significant harm to agriculture and greenbelt land, residents and wildlife
I agree with specific part of the 2050 plan to keep the village tranquil.
I disagree with -
Development sites that will cause significant harm to local agriculture land and greenbelt land and naturally, wildlife
Development as the council report shows extremely poor transport links to major road and rail assets
Further, job density of around 0.59 jobs to every working age resident is relatively low compared to a national average of 0.87, reflecting our strong reliance on out-commuting to other areas. More travel leads to increased pollution
Development as the current road (Little Wakering Road) cannot sustain the extra traffic caused by over development without causing significant delays, pollution and potential grid locks
Development due to the flood risk which is likely to increase with climate change (multiple reports from global bodies) and local housing development will not improve this threat

Your vision is contradictory to your planning decisions as the new housing estates on the edge of the villages means most people drive elsewhere rather than walking to existing facilities because you just enlarge the villages. Only houses are ever built, no shops or doctors or schools.

I am very happy with the Council's vision that "in 2050 the Wakerings and Barling should have retained their rural village character and relative tranquility" but am concerned that any further development will lead to the opposite. There already have been 250 homes built or being built in the Star Lane brickworks site, on Barrow Hall Road and in Red Lion Court and any further loss of agricultural land and green belt will be detrimental to the area, as well as putting strain on village services such as the medical centre, the primary school and roads.

What's missing is local representation in the committee. They all seem to reside in Rayleigh. How on earth can they possibly come up with a "vision" for Wakering and Barling that represents the local views when none of them live here? I think this is an absolute disgrace! We are clearly being used as a dumping ground for all the unwanted housing developments and don't have any say in it whatsoever!

On the whole I agree with the draft vision. However, I think that the statement 'The villages should have become more self-sufficient when it comes to homes' is incongruous with the National and Local Plan? There is no way the villages will have any self determination.

There is no mention of protecting local wildlife sites, areas of local geological value and green spaces or the enhancement of biodiversity via improvement of these sites or promotion of new sites. The impact that the drainage strategy of Taylor Wimpey’s Water’s Edge development has had on Starlane Pits Wildlife Site has been a tragedy. Steps should be taken to ensure this does not happen again. In particular, the site assessment for promoted site CFS057 should be reviewed and the western area of this parcel of land should not be put forward as a promoted site.

Great Wakering has already been over developed with new builds, and should not be considered for any more . Reason being as example , based on population of Rochford council and houses required ,one house for 27 people in next 20 years, based on Great Wakering population ,all built or planning approved ,one house for 18 people. We have had our allocation for at least the next 30 years!

There needs to be a distinction drawn between Gt Wakering and Little Wakering and Barling. Great Wakering has the feel of being a large village or even small town. This tends to appeal more to people for whom easy access to shops, pubs and particularly the school is important. The outer areas tend more towards a slightly older demographic for whom the lack of direct access to facilities is more than offset by the openness of the area, the larger plots and more peaceful environment. Many people have moved to these areas to avoid the congestion of more built-up areas.

Limited Connectivity & Access
Education provision already at capacity including a class being taught without classroom
Walking is limited with few pavements in Barling Magna
No cycle routes
Limited public transport
Consideration into Barling Airfield
Protect Wildlife and nature with rare species observed
Limited Medical and provisions for increased residents
Previous and current developments S106 contributions do not seem to have been delivered locally i.e. into the village, but into the wider council resulting in seemingly little benefit to develop infrastructure.
Existing developments include Star Lane, Barrow Hall Road – proposals for 7K + houses under SBC near Angel Pub.
Much of the scoring appears contradictory and confusing, including the definition of some terminology used.
Primary school access is currently 5 and yet Barling Magna Primary academy is almost at capacity with one class currently situated within the library (a central disruptive area unsuitable for learning).
Walking infrastructure is scored at 5 whereas currently there is only one narrow pathway on one side of the road and little space to develop another due to road width. Limited pavements exist across Barling and some very dangerous areas with blind corners, dangerous parking due to overcrowding and vehicles traveling at speed are of already great concern.
Whist there is a bus stop on Little Wakering road (scoring 5) bus services are scored at 1 (likely due to frequency and reliability of schedules) Buses also struggle on the village roads already so it would not be feasible to increase schedules or indeed encourage more vehicles onto often single-track roads in the village.
It seems to indicate no impact on habitats and yet nature is prevalent within the village with some rare species recorded.
Cycle routes scored at 3 yet there are no cycle paths, narrow roads and footpaths already resulting in dangerous conditions for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians. Other sites have existing cycle lanes and infrastructure in place.

First and foremost is the infrastructure of our village. It cannot cope with more housing developments. With the increase in housing in Shoplands and Barrow Hall (once they are fully occupied) our schools and nurseries will be full (Nurseries and Great Wakering school already full). Our Doctors are already buckling, and the roads and parking (especially around the schools and nurseries) will be absolutely manic and already cannot cope with the through traffic. Our beauty and nature of the village will be destroyed. Shopping and transportation links are limited and footpaths in some areas are non existent.

The infratstructure in terms of roads, and access to main highways is lacking, and there are no proposed routes out
The secondry Schooling provision is poor currently there are thousands of bus journeys made to Rochford school
There is no local industry to support the people and they will need to tavel which has an environmental negative impact
There are valuable mineral rescources that will be covered if housing development approved
There is only one direction out of the village and thais is via Southend on sea, which is conjested and being developed without infrastructure enhancement

The Wakerings and Barling cannot sustain any further development. Previous developments were to include provision for increased school and doctor's capacity. This has not happened to my knowledge.
The current infrastructure is not appropriate - and is ulikely to be improved by further development, and the area's identified are likely to link the villages to a wider Southend, Rochford urban area.

Capacity of the village
West of Great Wakering has had been subjected to planning permission for at least 477 dwellings in the past
(Brickworks 119 dwellings, Land South of High Street 200 (originally 180), Land west Little Wakering Road 120, Red Lion 8, Little Wakering hall Lane 13, Alexandra Road 25) and although we were promised by the County Council more infrastructure once the homes were built this has not been forthcoming. There is still the possibility of development of the existing Industrial Estate on Star Lane.
This is an increase of more than 20% with no increase in facilities.

That is a true reflection of our area.
If that is your draft statement then why have we so many sites for potential development.
Current developments will already reduce our rural setting.
Education at senior level has been required in these areas for decades.

We live in the village of Little Wakering.
We are concerned by the increase in new builds in this area, having already had around 130 new house developments.
We are concerned about losing our wildlife and their habitats, and would like to conserve as much of our countryside and village way of life as we can.
I speak for many who have the same concerns.
