Given the recent reports that we will see sea levels rise it is prudent to have mitigating strategies in plan and key that we don't develop and make areas even more prone to risk. It may be worth investigating scenarios of sea level rise on it's affects on the area and how this could be mitigated via flood/coastal defenses, drainage, etc.
I think it's definitely good to be aware of this and plan new developments in less risky places but it is also important that things are put in place to de-risk the entire area.
