Respondent: Mr Paul Budd

Representation Summary:

The proposed development is unnecessary and will totally destroy the much cherished/valued 'village feel' that Hockley has still managed to retain, despite the over-development that it has already had to endure.

Full text:

My wife and I have lived in Hockley for over 20 years. We chose to live here as we felt that it was the type of place where young children could grow and develop in a community environment. We are proud of the character the village has retained, notwithstanding the extensive development that the area has seen during our time here. We fear that the introduction of a sizeable supermarket would totally destroy the 'village feel' which (is but one, of many reasons) makes Hockley such a desirable place to live. The supermarket is not needed and will only serve to drtract from the area, not enhance it. ALL residence in Hockley have easy access to an array of supermarket and shopping facilities, especially now with both a Co-op & Sainsbury in the village.

In view of the above, I strongly object to the proposed development.
