Allocations DPD Discussion and Consultation Document

Representation ID: 22642

Received: 30/04/2010

Respondent: Mr R Stacey

Agent: RW Land & Planning

Representation Summary:

Option SC2 - North of Lark Hill Road
We do not agree with the comments in the supporting text that this site could "add to
community cohesion" due to the sites location at the furthest western point and also physically
separated by a green space. This leapfrogging of an existing green wedge will encourage two
separate areas to Canewdon and affect, if not worse, prevent integration.
The presence of new housing along Lark Hill Road will significantly extend Canewdon in a
westerly direction, as it will inevitably be read alongside the existing properties. This will alter
the perception of Canewdon being a compact village. This option is the furthest from existing
village facilities, such as the shop and school perhaps even encouraging new residents to
drive.
