Respondent: Mr J Robinson

Representation Summary:

I live in the Hawkwell West area and have followed the ongoing issue of the core strategy of 175 house that are being proposed for the Christmas Tree Farm area on Rectory Road with dismay. I am not confusing this with the David Wilson Proposal of 330 houses also for this site. This would impact significanly on the already overloaded road network in this area; there is also the consideration of schools, doctors, dentists all of which are currently fully strecthed as far as I can see. I have first hand knowledge of the pressure on Southend Hospital. Another concern is where are these people going to be employed; I have recently been made
redundant from a major manufacturer which is another nail in the coffin of UK export potential. There is much I could say but my last comment is that there always appears to be many properties for sale already and I am also aware of a continual policy of using large properties to create multihome sites (such as the flats on the corner of Hockley Rise/Southend Road. I do appreciate that this core strategy is the result
of a directive from central government and do trust that this policy is amended.
