Allocations DPD Discussion and Consultation Document

Representation ID: 17593

Received: 29/03/2010

Respondent: Chris Clements

Representation Summary:

This site was previously used for accommodating a family of gypsies. Because there is no mains sewage drainage from this site the smell of raw sewage was frequently present. Following protracted complaints from local residents the council had to pay considerable court fees to have the gypsies removed from the land.

This Green Belt stretch of Plumberow is considered a highly desirable area in which to live. There would inevitably be a negative effect on house prices if an official Gypsy and Traveller site is introduced - witness Crays Hill, Basildon.
