Allocations DPD Discussion and Consultation Document

Respondent: Mr Stephen Rayner

Representation Summary:

The site is totally unsuitable for gypsy/traveller occupation. A small piece of Green Belt land in an established community with commonality in types of residences and the people who live there. There are not facilities or infrastructure to support another different type of community/ dwelling. With the lack of facilities and utilities, particularly mains sewage drainage, points of safety and security concerns, it is impractical and unethical to allow this site to be used for such occupation. This proposal is strongly opposed and will be continuously challenged by all local residents until this site is taken off the register.

Full text:

*There is no mains sewage drainage facility on this site, without which would present a potential environmental issue for the area
*The road outside of the property is unadopted, and maintenance of this road is the responsibility of each of the residents for their own particular 'stretch' outside of their property.
*It is questionable why the Council would consider so easily converting land designated as 'Green Belt' to such accommodation. The Council are usually very strict when it comes to planning permission when residents want to enhance their properties
*Integration and acceptance of what could be perceived as a minority group, of such small proportion (the number of families that could be accommodated on this small plot of land would be extremely small) into the area.
*The impact on property values in the area if there is an official Gypsy and Traveller site in the area.
