Respondent: Mr Dennis Haggerty

Representation Summary:

Due to an attempted change of use by closing these licensed premises much against the wishes of Canewdon villagers it is essential for the council to be vigilent for any attempt to allow these premises to fall into disrepair. Any attempt by the owners and other commerical interests to object to the inclusion of this property within the plan should be strongly resisted and followed up with enforcement in terms of the maintenence and appearance of the property. If the Chequers is left to deteriorate it will be to the detriment of the High street as a whole.
