Ojbect to these policies listed because they do not take account of current and future congestion. Eastwoodbury Lane is already congested and this affects Cherry Orchard Way and Nestuda Way causing long queues of traffic morning and evening. There are also delays for traffic entering the A127 from Nestuda Way at the Tesco junction. The road system round the airport is not adequate to cope with large traffic flows and the proposed park and ride scheme especially as 4000 more houses are due to be built in the next few years. The A127 itself suffers from heavy congestion and is not fitted to take much extra traffic.

Never have seen much improvement in the cycling infrastructure in Southend, but this consultation paper is full of it. However not much attention to congestion and pollution and the impact on the environment in this consultation paper, just hollow words. Aviation is not good for the environment.

I strongly object. We live in a densely populated area which already struggles with an infrastructure that has had various 'improvements' made over the years. 'contributions' to the provision of improved walking and cycling facilities would be good, but not at the expense of loss of land.

I object to expanding developing this area.

Southend is over crowded as it is - traffic appalling, too many flats being built, Town Centre is a no-go area in the evening.

Houses will be de-valued as has been seen around Stansted and the noise from the airport at night is already unacceptable.

More, bigger roads? are you expecting a large increase in the number of large trucks? I thought we were only expecting hi tec low volume/wieght bussinesses. Anyway, the A127 will still have to take the extra traffic you will get from expending the airport, so more jams for us to live with.

I object to the expansion of Southend Airport as this will mean planes low over our houses every 5 minutes at busy times, up to 30 noisy freight flights a night . A huge increase in noise and air pollution and more traffic on our congested roads. A number of people will lose their homes in the area. The value of people's homes will fall, putting even more people into negative equity. I feel there will be very few new jobs created as well as an increase in harmful greenhouse gas emissions. I therefore strongly object to the expansion.

In addition, any increase in traffic on the A127 will divert traffic to an already congested A13 and surrounding residential 'rat-runs'. This will significantly increase the risk of serious road accidents in these areas. The A13 already has heavy congestion, particularly in/around the Sadler's Farm area, with eastbound tailbacks often-stretching back to Basildon and beyond.

Representation Summary:

- Support Airport

- Road improvements in-adequate

- need A127 upgraded to a motorway

- need ring road round Southend

Full text:

Support the upgrade of Airport but strongly feel that there must be improvements to the A127 to motorway standards to allow for increases in traffic that the airport will attract. Also the road improvements should be in conjunction with a dual carriage ring road from the A127 round the North of Southend leading to the airport, new football stadium and onto Shoeburyness. This should have motorway style run up and exits to ensure a steady flow of traffic to allow for future increases in volumes of traffic. I feel this it is vital for the future development and employment prospects for the Area. The proposed road improvements will only offer limited improvements and will only mean that traffic flow will continue to be a problem on the A127 where the use of traffic lights means that the flow is continually checked and stopped, thus creating jams upto basildon during busy periods.
