STRONGLY OBJECT TO ALL EXPANSION. Do minimum or preferably no expansion. The increase in aircraft noise for us residents will become intolerable, emissions will increase. The road system cannot cope with current traffic levels. If 2m passenger movements are reached this will require about 4000 extra car journeys per day!!! Imagine the road upgrading work for the next few years that would be required. This area has a high percentage of elderly people who hardly fly. Who will the expansion benefit, people flying from outside the region and the business people and major shareholders who will make millions of pounds.

Representation Summary:

Notwithstanding the above, we think that it would have been helpful for the Issues and Options document to have included in the main body of text, a summary of the sustainability effects of each of the different options in terms of their impacts on the social, economic and environmental baselines. The authority should consider, in submitting the final DPD, creating a clear 'audit trail' between the SA report and the JAAP.

Representation Summary:

If the environmental information in the tables that accompany each 'Scenario' is drawn from the SA then this needs to be made more explicit.

At submission, the Authority will need to demonstrate that the plan and policies represent the most appropriate response in all the circumstances, having considered all relevant alternatives, and that they are founded on a robust and credible evidence base. These are important soundness tests.

Representation Summary:

We consider that the Scenarios that have been set out in the JAAP document are both discreet and expressed clearly utilising text, a spatial plan of each scenario and tables. However, we do feel that overall there is quite a lot of duplication of basic details in the document. Some of the background, evidence base or baseline assessment information that is set out comprehensively in Section 2, also seems to be duplicated either in whole or part in Sections 4 and 5.

Consideration should be given to reducing the amount of repetition when in due course the Submission Plan is prepared. This ought to be fairly straightforward to achieve, given that the emphasis should then be on the strategy being proposed with only brief references being made to the options/scenarios that have been discounted.

This option IS NOT AN OPTION. The airport would cease to be viable, and the town would slip into DSS mediocrity forever.

FoNKM objects to the fact that there is no opportunity to opt for NO expansion of the airport
We are not obliged to cater for the predicted demand for air travel. The sector makes a disproportionate contribution to climate change and should be included in targets for cutting emissions There should not be an assumption that there is a requirement to develop the airport at all Options 1, 11 and 111 will undoubtedly act as drivers for increased CO2 emissions at a time when national, regional and local government should be acting to prevent damaging climate
