Rayleigh is already overdeveloped. Increases of housing in the Downhall area in recent years have caused havoc to the traffic flow. Rayleigh town centre congestion with it's current one way street system is unbelieveable. Amenities need to be in place before any more development.

Rayleigh & Rawreth are already more overdeveloped than the rest of the district because they have received most of the large scale new housing over the last 20 years.
Our infrastructure is not equipped to sustain an extra 1800 housing even if you could find the space.
Please consider sharing the developement of these houses more fairly throughout the district.

The building of 1,800 additional homes in Rayleigh is utterly unacceptable. It would put intolerable pressure on our local roads, schools and G.P. services. It would also mean a devastating loss of Green Belt land. Future residential development should be spread more evenly over the whole of the Rochford District, so that a smaller, fairer burden falls on Rayleigh.

Given that the total number of homes to be provided is, essentially, non-negotiable, and that it appears from comment 144 that road improvements are unlikely to be forthcoming, it does not appear possible to find the 1.5-2 sq km needed in any other way. MoD land - even if it could be released - would be a transport nightmare and the only other large block is the airport. 1 sq km can be relatively easily found between Rayleigh's existing boundary and the "old A130". It isn't a great choice, but the alternatives are worse.

Rayleigh / Rawreth Lane saturated with new housing.
Infrastucture crippled by traffic problems.
Unfair to existing residents.
Canewdon & Gt. Wakering escape development.
Re-think strategy to provide new housing units in the eastern end of RDC area.
Consider such places as Star Lane Brickworks (Large Brown field site)to take some or all of the new development proposed from Rayleigh.
Rayleigh and in particular Rawreth Lane have already become saturated by new housing.
The infrastructure in often crippled by overburden of traffic.
Another 1800 housing units in this area is totally unfair to the existing residents.
Why do areas such as Canewdon & Gt. Wakering escape the developments?
With the demise of the Star Lane Brickworks in Gt. Wakering, what about re-thinking the RDC strategy and moving most of the proposed 1800 units to the eastern end of the RDC area.
Surely the old brickworks is a BROWN FIELD SITE that will comply with the Governments requirements for general development and regeneration.
I have known the Wakering area for more than forty years and have noticed that apart from a few small scale developments, they somehow always escape anything major.
Wakering does not even feature in the current list of prefered options!!!

Too many houses for the town , not enough infrastructure/amenities.
Development should be shared out equaly across the disctrict.
Rawreth/Rayleigh has been overdeveloped , leave our green open spaces alone.
Am discusted at the number of homes that are being proposed for Rayleigh. I have had a baby last year and am extremely worried about the lack of infra structure that would be available when these houses are built. Living near Rawreth Lane I am seriously worried about the weight of traffic that will have to pass through this area. It is already bad at rush hours. I love Rayleigh and am appauled at the councils proposal to turn it into a living nightmare. I like the local town feel at the moment do not want to feel like I am living in a concrete City.

Strong Objection
Quite honestly I question who Rochford District Council actually work for. Is it the Community? The Council tax payers? The every day working man and woman on the street? Because if so, this is not evident to me, or anyone else I speak to in this community.
How much common sense does it actually take to see that a planned 1,800 extra housing units with Rayleigh is too great? Rayleigh as a town is already fit to burst with severely lacking amenities to cater for this rapidly expanding community already and so to add a further 1,800 more houses, I and others believe would be the straw that breaks the camel's back! Public transport, roads, car parks, local amenities all need investing in and vastly improving before any further houses are built therefore increasing the strain on the town.
I would also like to know what you plan to do about secondary schooling within this region if 1,800 extra housing units go ahead. As you seem to be increasing the community so rapidly with very little thought of this quite obvious side effect - it would appear to me that instead of Closing Park School in Rayleigh, it may have been a wiser decision to actually invest in it and further establish the qualities the school actually held.
From what I and many others can see, it appears that if you are a developer and you wish to build within Rayleigh, whether this is a sensible and viable decision o not, it appears that Rochford District Council will merrily go along with it, forgetting the residents of Rayleigh who actually have to deal with the fall out. But, if you are a the every day working man or woman on the street and you require some assistance from your Council, be it for planning permission or to object to clearly ridiculous planning applications, it falls on deaf ears.
Come on Rochford County Council, I think there should be a little less quite evident back scratching and jobs for boys and a little more attention paid to who you actually work for and who pays your wages

Objections is for the following reasons.
1) Already seen significant new builds in area without a corresponding increase in services/infrastructure (Doctors/Dentists/Schools etc)
2)Where will these 1800 'housing units' be located. Rawreth seems likely (already seen the brunt of the new builds)
3)Unequal quantity of housing units compared to other districts
4)Rayleigh already suffering from overdevelopment (Downhall Park, Park school)

Rayleigh, and particularly the Rawreth Lane area have taken the brunt of the new housing development. There are long waiting lists at nearly all local nurseries, and there are only two secondary schools in the immediate vicinity. The roads are gridlocked at school and peak times, and the train station is packed at all peak times. These factors should be taken into consideration when planning new developments. We have young children (4 + 2) and all activities seem to be over subscribed, any more families moving to the area and the problem will get worse and worse. Don't spoil a lovely town that is on the brink of over development already, with any more housing before the amenities situation improves.
