London Southend Airport & Environs Joint Area Action Plan Issues & Options Paper

Representation ID: 941

Received: 26/06/2008

Respondent: Mr Peter Hall

Representation Summary:

Whilst I'm sure that the infrastructure improvements would encourage business to the area, I fail to see how the objective of 2 million passengers can be achieved. With the current runway configuration, the airport have failed to attract any scheduled services (other than the Flybe Jersey flights)in 3 or 4 years and one of the main constraints to prospective airlines has been the short runway. This option may encourage a couple of airlines to start services, but they will be have to use smaller aircraft and they will have a limited range.
