A fundamentally flawed vision, born out by a pie-in-the-sky outcome which is unsupported by a proper assessment. Have you considered that an airport in Southend may have the very opposite affect? Day-trippers not visiting because the traffic is so bad? Going elsewhere because of the noise pollution? Floods of passengers pouring in to spend their money in nearby London. All the negative sides of having an airport with none of the benefits. For what? Some jobs. There are better ways of creating sustainable employment: make Southend a 'destination' given it's so close to the capital.
