We support the plan to increase local employment but doubt the strategy of linking this to the airport. Airlines are cutting back on airport staff with online check-in and more automated baggage handling (or a "no baggage" approach), so direct employment opportunities will surely be much lower than might be anticipated. Make Southend a good area to live and companies will relocate. But would you want to to work or live next to a runway? Perhaps you should relocate the council offices to this area....
