I have read a hard copy of 'Preferred Options', and, despite the techno-speak, discover that although mentioned in a few places, there is little real concern shown for the effect expansion of the airport will have on 10s of thousands of residents, in particular those on the flight paths. The Marine Estate is one area which will suffer greatly if there is any increase in activity at the airport. Moving up to 2 million passengers per annum, and night cargo flights, not to mention increases in maintenance and testing flight, would be totally unaccepatable. The positioning of the airport, unlike others in the SE eg. Luton & Stansted makes overflying a large residential area inevitable. The reference to 'quiet' jets in the report is a red herring. There is no such thing as a quiet jet. Only a quieter jet. I strongly oppose any expansion of the airport: mainly on noise and quality of life grounds. Also property values are a major concern.
