Rochford District Core Strategy Regulation 26 Draft

Representation ID: 51

Received: 12/06/2007

Respondent: Mr Paul Hunt

Representation Summary:

The figure of 4600 houses is too high.
The EERA are unelected and should not be allowed to "force" this number on us.
Does the 1800 figure for Rayleigh incude the 901 built 2001-2006?
Rayleigh's road infrastructure including the links to the A127/A130 must be improved. The town one way system is at a standstill most of the day how will this be addressed with the extra people?
The Core strategy document is ambiguous in my opinion with too many "where possibles" and gives the council scope to breach what they are tabling going forward.

Full text:

Firstly I object to the figure of 4600 houses for Rochford to accommodate. This figure was forced upon us by the EERA, an unelected government quango to whom there is no electorate to answer to and can therefore make decisions without fear of consequences.

Secondly the consultation does not make clear whether Rayleigh is to take 1800 houses or 899 houses as a result of the 901 built from 2001-2006. Can you imagine Rayleigh having to take twice the number already built in the last 5 years?

Rayleigh's infrastructure has already passed breaking point in my opinion, our schools/Doctors/Dentists are at their maximum just ask anyone moving into the area trying to get on a list.

Significant improvements must be made to the road network of Rayleigh including our links to the A127 & A130 before another house should be built. The farce of the ASDA superstore must be learnt from and Rochford DC must stand its ground in regard to infrastructure improvement BEFORE development occurs.

The Core strategy document is far to ambiguous in my opinion with too many "where possibles" and gives the council scope to breach what they are tabling going forward.
