The people in Hockley like 'the village' and like living in it.They like the 'atmosphere' that prevails and wish to preserve it.There are already a wide variety of shops.Residents do not want to follow the stereotype development that has taken place in other areas.They are happy with the supermarket that they have and would not wish to have anything larger.In terms of retail development the favoured route is consistent with that set out in the Retail and Leisure Study(2008) i.e. bespoke independent shops(not multiples).
