New Local Plan: Spatial Options Document 2021

Representation ID: 43427

Received: 21/09/2021

Respondent: Jean Townsend

Representation Summary:

The Plan call the centre of Hockley "vibrant". No.s 14 to 38 Spa Road are dismal and shoddy buildings and not the solid quality required for a central location. The Plan should include the replacement of these single storey sheds with quality retail buildings. It should also ensure the complete restoration of the historic Spa Hotel and its brick barns because they are listed buildings of importance.

CFS064 Hockley / Hawkwell

The Plan states a need for "affordable" housing in Hockley. This word was used as an excuse for the flimsy box which I inhabit. The builder did nothing to level, drain and dry the site of the Betts Farm estate. The properties were well arranged but had interior doors of cardboard; interior walls of plasterboard; tacky window frames and handles; and floorboards like matchsticks. RDC made no effort.
