New Local Plan: Spatial Options Document 2021

Representation Summary:

I am writing to lodge my objection to the proposed building plans around Ashingdon Primary Academy, specifically sites CFS216 and CFS133.

I already have one child at Ashingdon Primary School and hope to have another there next September. A huge part of the appeal of the school for us was it’s location and size; semi-rural and one-form entry, with a small community atmosphere. Building on the beautiful fields surrounding the school, which have been farmed for years, would ruin the rural feel and would put a huge amount of stress onto the school to accommodate extra children, also risking excluding the children who usually attend from semi-rural locations.

It would also cause issues with traffic at an already busy and dangerous junction; I am already concerned about my child walking along the road there once he is old enough to leave school on his own…imagine how dangerous it could be in a few years time with developments like these and the increased volume of traffic they would cause?? The junction is also often subject to many speeding drivers with a previous serious accident happening there too. Adding another road junction in there is definitely unsafe and risking the lives of our children in the process. There are no cycle paths or means to incorporate one. The pavements for pedestrians are awful - narrow and not well-kept, making it even harder for parents to walk to school, and almost impossible if pushing a pushchair.

Please take these comments into consideration; it really would impact on our community in so many negative ways and cause a lot of unnecessary risk to the lives of our children.
