Best delivered off-site. Support should be provided to enhance existing wildlife sites, lands of local geological interest and parks. This will avoid developers treating biodiversity as a tick box exercise and empower and support owners and patrons of existing sites. This will also give more control of biodiversity net gains to the Council and local communities.

Any consideration for development on the western area of promoted site CFS057, which lays south of the Star Lane Pits wildlife site should consider the net gains of Star Lane Pits wildlife site. Especially taking into consideration the detrimental impact that the Water’s Edge development to the north of the wildlife site has had. In particular, the inadequate drainage strategy has resulted in the lake being drained of a significant amount of water and site sediment has been discharged into the lake. This has resulted in significant algae blooms and killed many fish that are over 40 years
