With reference to the Spatial Options Consultation please find enclosed the following:

- Submission on behalf of current residents of the Chase, Ashingdon.
- Extracts from the Spatial Options Map ref. CFS159 and CFS008.
- Copy of residents' signatures.

I would note that:

- The Chase Residents are an informal group formed in 1977 with the object of maintaining our unadopted lane and to act as a forum to discuss items of concern to residents.
- A Zoom meeting was convened on 24th August to discuss the Spatial Options Plan where it directly affects residents of the Chase.
- Some residents have been able to submit comments directly via the website - additionally it was agreed that we should make this submission on behalf of the residents group.
- We have been able to obtain a majority of signatures from residents and no-one declined. However it has not been possible to reach everyone in person and this submission is being made to ensure we meet your deadline of 22nd September.

We trust that the above points will be taken into consideration during Council decision making with the objection of maintaining and enhancing a safe rural environment for all residents of the Chase and the village:

Reference CFS008
This area is within Met Green Belt and has been so for many years. Area is wildlife rich and enjoyed by residents walking in safe quiet environment. The Chase is a narrow single track lane with passing places unadopted by Council and maintained only by residents. Development would adversely affect access, the road surface and privacy. Access to the Chase is via junction with Ashingdon Hill. Traffic frequently exceeds 30mph speed limit and puts users of the junction at risk. Increased traffic at this junction is not appropriate.

Application CFS 159:
This proposed site is an area of woodland within the Met Green Belt. Trees have provided wildlife habitat and noise reduction for many years. The site is bordered by Ashingdon Hill and regularly sees vehicles exceed the 30mph limit endangering users of junction with the Chase. It is not a safe option to access the site from the Hill. The Chase is a narrow single track unadopted lane with passing places unsuited to any increase in traffic. It is maintained entirely by residents with labour, materials and fund-raising. The Crouch Valley Way footpath enters the Chase here.
