Respondent: Mr Aleck Poole

Representation Summary:

I note proposals concerning broadband and fibre optics. I don't see any mention of mobile phone connectivity. This is particularly poor in my location in Whitehall Road, Great Wakering. Before assuming that existing arrangements are adequate I urge consultation with BT and other service providers. I am registered with Talk Talk and they have no masts of their own near this location and resort to connection via an arrangement with Vodafone masts. This is often unavailable at times and I assume is at capacity servicing their own Vodafone clients. I can often go a whole day before I receive a message or call sent locally.
My broadband delivery via a landline is coping most of the time, though speeds are often recorded as poor. Outages have occurred. As further residential and business customers are added I am concerned that connectivity will deteriorate. Many TV connections are now delivered via the internet. Please discuss 'contention ratios' with BT. Future development will affect these issues
