I prefer Option 1, though I would like to have seen the traffic flow into the square reversed. I think the current system creates to many hold-ups at Horners Corner. I fail to see the advantage in widening the pavements. People will always try to park as close as they can and therefore offering the option of parking in Back Lance or the Old Ship car parks is probably a non-starter.
