Full text:

I write on behalf of my wife and myself who have owned and lived with our family in this property for some 30 years and we also intend to stay here for the foreseeable future.

Whilst we are both flattered under the justification part of the proposal that our home is described as an elegant building and we like it very much particularly most of the front elevation which can be seen from the road and which we feel has great charm.

The rear elevation had been considerably altered over the years but we understand that most of the front elevation is as originally built.

As to some background my wife and I had all of the wooden windows shown in the front photograph replaced some 20 years ago and these were to our design and were an improvement on the original ones and we can see no reason why anyone would want to change these.

The top flat dormer with tile hanging to the sides is not, to us, an attractive feature of our property and we have had to replace the old metal windows as they had reached the end of their life but we have always hoped to be able to redesign this part of the property and the end of the roof section with something more in keeping with the rest of the front of the house.

We do not agree that all of the features which have been mentioned under the general description are original and in keeping with the work that we have had carried out to the house since we have lived here and do not warrant the whole of our building being listed as has been proposed.

We now wish to formally object to this proposal as it is and we hope that you understand our misgivings and that you will reconsider adding our home in total to the proposed local list.
