This building is one of the mainstays of the old shopping area in the high street. After nearly 200 years it forms a main part of the collection of character 19th century buildings and is a local landmark for the area.
In the past RDC allowed planning to demolish the houses opposite in order to install modern totally out of context shops. We cannot afford to allow the council to remove more and take away the last section of character houses on the area. It is negligent for RDC not to recommend this building to the list
