Representation ID: 12774

Received: 15/05/2009

Respondent: Mr Eric Hoile

Representation Summary:

Not sufficient develoment of road infrastructure within the WHOLE rea. Too limited a view on traffic movement, noise, polution etc within Southend and Rochford and surrounding region.
Go back to Maplin, that was a far better plan with major motorway additions. It appears people are less important that wildlife and birds which I believe was the main reason for Maplin not starting.

Whilst I am in favour of development of the Airport it is clear from the many documents that the focus has been on the immediate facility without real consideration for the whole area including that immediately adjacent to Southend and Rochford.
The road network to & from the airport is already at maximum yet the proposals only refer to changes around the airport ending with the words "linking to the A127". This is where the MAJOR issue will result and like most developments will result in traffic congestion which will penalise not only the motorists and travelers in general but also the local area inhabitants along and around the road networks. You have focused on rail network yet there will be no compulsion for transport to use rail ilo road and the consequence will be major haulage of goods and people along the A127 which is already at nightmare levels of congestion. Where is the MAJOR motorway expansion to support this aitport expansion?? Rather than look at the airport expansion you should be looking at the whole ESSEX AREA expansion and what is required not only for existing inhabitants but also to enable real improvements in travel, noise, polution and quality of living. It appears to be too narrow a focus purely for immediate financial gain of Rochford and Southend.
