Hockley Area Action Plan Submission Document

Policy 3 - Promoting better movement

Representation ID: 28904

Received: 22/01/2013

Respondent: Highways England

Representation Summary:

In general, we support any polices that provide the opportunity to minimise the need to travel by motor vehicle and welcome the general principles being set out in the development of the plan.

With respect to the promotion of mixed use development, this is likely to be the most sustainable approach and is supported. However it should be noted that unless the timing of build and occupation is not carefully managed, commuting patterns can become established with increased separate residential and employment trips, which would undermine the aim of mixed use development.
