Re Rochford District Council Planning Dept's meeting 12th April at Windermere Centre, Hullbridge

We are here today representing Hullbridge Action Group on behalf the electorate / residents of Hullbridge Village.

At your request for villager to write or email their views, comments, questions about the Allocations DPD Discussion and Consultation Document Feb 2010 Appendix 1, we are handing over our first batch of letters from the residents. We should be obliged if you would respond before 10th May to the questions raised in the letters. We also give you a petition containing 1382 signatures objecting to the building within the sites of SWH1, 2, 3, 4 and GT7.

The three representatives of the Rochford District Council led by Cllr Cutmore declined to attend another meeting. However the feeling was so strong within the community that we held a meeting on the 16th April at the Community Centre. Simply by publicity within the village over 500 residents, double the attendance of 12th, turned up at the Community Centre to offer their support to stop any development on these sites.

Some of the questions, points may not be relevant to this phase, but we would ask you to ensure they are included in the next / relevant phase and you advise what they are and when they will take place. In that way we may work together and help you achieve your objectives.

We would appreciate an acknowledgement of receipt for these letters and petition.

We had near to 500 people turning up, that's approx, 10% of the adult population of Hullbridge, and unfortunately we did not have a hall large enough to accommodate everyone resulting UNFORTUNATELY in villagers turning away.

Michael Hoy of the Green Party, member of the Parish Council and Hullbridge Action Group opened the meeting and asked who of the parties and parish had come to the meeting. Martin Hodson, Chris Theobald and David East of the Parish Council and Chris Black from the Lib Dem stood up. None of our conservative members who were elected by Hullbridge previously, turned up for this meeting as seems to be a pattern. The Labour candidate and the chair of the parish council who said she would support also did not turn up with no apology sent.

However, Mr Mark Francois did turn up 20 mins into the meeting, and was the only parliamentary candidate who did and took the mike to a barrage of questions from the community which he tried to answer as honestly as he could.

One question asked to him was 'Is there a hidden strategy for these houses regarding the bypass'. Mr Fraincois stated 'If this is a hidden strategy it's so well hidden I can't find it'. 'I am completely against the bypass always have been and always will be.

The objection of the night was to inform people as best we could of what we could do to stop the development of any building on green belt land within Hullbridge.

Mr Kerry Taylor said that at the first meeting he did not feel that we were listened to, our questions were not answered and that we were not taken seriously. We need to change that and make our voices be heard.

This area, despite Mr Francois statement that it is not a flood plain, is consistently under water even with the smallest rainfall. Our roads are overburdened already.

Jackie Taylor had created approximately 20 different format of letters for the community to read and then write there own letter to send to the RDC regarding the Allocations DPD discussion and consultation document dated Feb 2010 along with the Core strategy and LDF.

She then suggested collection points of the Parish Council, Chemist her own and Michael Hoy's homes and stated that they were to be received no later than 20th April 2010.

It was suggested by a member of the Hullbridge community that we should stop paying Council Tax, setting up a fund to assist village's opposal or to even by the fields themselves.

The Hullbridge Action Group will now collate all letters and attend Rochford District Council at 11am on Thursday 22nd April to personally hand them in, anyone wanting to come for moral support should be at the Council Offices by 10.45am.

We are then going to request that Mr Michael Hoy make a representation at the Core Strategy Meeting on 11th May 2010 to put forward the views of the Hullbridge Community.
