We are against any expansion of air travel or airfreight, until and unless a new fuel is produced which has zero carbon impact. Refusal of this plan, and other airport expansions on that basis would act as a spur to development of such a fuel.

We oppose any expansion on the grounds that air travel and airfreight produce unwarranted amounts of carbon dioxide, and this proposed increase is contradictory to the government's declared aim to drastically reduce carbon output. The two simply cannot be reconciled. All such plans should be shelved until a new green airfuel is produced.
