Overall I cannot see why the local community should hav to put up with deteriorating living standards from road congestion, increased noise and air pollution and the dangers of low flying aircraft when only a handful, and one or two large companies and presumably the Councils, will benefit.

Unless the operator was able to maintain the various levels as they are currently I do not see why any expansion should be allowed.
In addition I do not think such levels should be accepted just by the Councils but voted on by all who are entitled to vote in local elections.
Indeed one proviso should be that a referendum is held so the decision can be voted on by all locals.

Why should local residents, businesses, schools, sporting and social facilities, churches or other such places have to put up with any increase in noise and surely they should all have a say before anything is decided.

I find it difficult to believe that any such report will persuade locals that road traffic will become far more congested, if not gridlocked.

If flights are going to increase substantially there will have to be more flight paths inevitably bringing low flying aircraft over busy residentail areas, thus increasing noise and air pollution over the whole town.

Policy LS6 - Runway Extension
Representation ID: 11907
Received: 13/05/2009

Runway extension will just make matters worse for local business not involved in the airport - and has any thought been given to the fact that two large graveyards and the crematorium will no longer be the quiet places where family can spend a few quiet moments?
