Q4.2 How can the airport best be developed to drive and support the local economy?

The airport should be allowed to expand from its current limits to provide additional employment within the District. To limit growth to the status quo would result in a lack of inward investment into the District.

Q4.7 Should the Green Belt be considered for revision? If so how should it be revised?
Representation ID: 2001

To enable wider growth within the airport it is essential that the Green Belt boundary be revised. It is important that areas that are under utilised adjacent to the airport can be included within the boundary to enable improved development. In particular the area of land east of the railway adjacent to Southend Road should be included in the Airport boundary and not retailed as Green Belt. As owners of this land we would support its release from the Green Belt

In order for growth to occur within the airport it is essential that transport links are improved to the airport. Emphasis should be placed on non-car traffic and therefore improvements to the rail links is essential in this location.

Q4.12 Do you agree with the proposed areas for change?
Representation ID: 2007

Respondent: Tabor Farms Ltd

We strongly agree with the proposed area for change particularly area ix. The land east of the railway line is poor amenity value land and does not offer any strategic benefit in terms of Green Belt objectives. Such land should be included within the airport development boundary and be removed from the Green Belt. Given the proximity of this land to the railway and airport terminal it would be sensible to be used for transport/interchange development or industrial use. We would not wish to see this retained as open space as it has poor amenity value.
