Paragraph 5, Policy 9, Key Diagram D. The proposal to develop the area around the Freight House would have a detrimental effect on this delightful area. The south side of West Street and Bradley Way, Freight House, Railway Station and Railway Cottages are all Victorian; any new building would be out of keeping and because of its elevated position, will be visible from all around. The loss of car parking will be another issue. Signalled traffic light at the junction of Hall Road and West Street will be out of keeping in conservation area.

Representation Summary:

Freight House is situated in an elevated position overlooking the reservoir any development in this area will have a detrimental affect on the conservation area. The South of Bradley Way and West Street has only Victorian cottages, Freight House and Railway Station buildings, any more development in this location would be unsound. Issues around loss of parking in Freight House or Station car park would have a negative affect.

The proposed replacement at Hall Road/West Street junction with signalled traffic lights would be out of keeping in this conservation area.
