Representation Summary:

Believe this should be protected, not sure why Rochford station is and this is not. I have a picture of this railway building from 1919 and think that this and infact the Rayleigh station building and platforms should be protected as they represent the familiar and trusted appearance of stations and the history that they are part of within a commmunity.

Representation Summary:

Local railway stations are shabby. Government could negotiate renovation with Railtrack, which is not an impeccable business left to itself. For some reason Rochford station is included in the list yet Rayleigh and Hockley are not. None of these stations should be allowed to have bad alterations or additions, as has happened with the concrete beside Southend station. When the rail service becomes really dynamic the solution may be to rebuild the stations, but not in the strange, futuristic style of the airport station.
