Developing the centre of the community should extend to renovating the shops and land known as Broad Parade, The Broadlands estate, including the car repair establishment on Greensward Lane, is in need of some tlc. Do not overlook this less central area or it will become a refuge for delinquants and vandals.

Heritage buildings like the thatched 'China Cottage', Spa House and the Spa, as well as the terrace of new town houses beside them, have been painstakingly maintained to a high standard. The centre of Hockley should be redeveloped to an equally high standard to harmonise with these buildings. There is scope for widening Spa Road for increased traffic. It might eventually be a smaller version of Cheltenham Spa, although residents probably need genuinely useful shops like the existing laundry/drycleaning/key cutting/shoe repairs/hairdressing, as well as a larger supermarket, rather than 'boutiques' with expensive 'knick knacks'.

The Eldon Way/Foundry estates could then be used for a state of the art library, health service, leisure centre, green space and renovated railway station, as well as some residential dwelling (Option 3.1 of the Hockley Area Action Plan).

I see no reason to change the existing boundary as shown in option TC16. Option TC15 would effectively kill off the shops outside that area and these are already struggling to survive.

TC15. this keeps the development to the existing area. there are other facilities and amenities close by and hockley cannot cope with additional traffic. i would be interested in suggestions for greater pedestrian access as currently the pavements are quite narrow.
