Hockley should definitely be reallocated as a District Centre. This decision does not mean that there should be no development but that it should be on a more limited scale and focused.

Representation Summary:

I think that dcesignation as a District Centre would create a village that is far closer to what the residents of Hockley want. The Council's proposals to develop it into a town trying to compete with other local towns in the area are simply unrealistic and unwanted. I see no reason why designation as a District Centre should stop improvements to the village centre - rather it would help to maintain the village character and stop some of the wilder flights of fancy being put forward.

Suggest a new development in West Rayleigh to accommodate Rochford's housing allocation should be provided in a new village to take advantage from the highway network of A127, A130 and A1245 where all the infrastructure can be provided in a phased manner without compromising existing settlements.
