Rochford Town Centre Area Action Plan - Issues and Options

Representation ID: 15729

Received: 24/09/2009

Respondent: Mr & Mrs Cooper

Representation Summary:

The implication in the issues regarding the amount of land used by the town centre car park is that this could be put to better use.
OK, but I believe much business comes into Rochford town centre for this very reason ie the convenience of central parking. Take it away and many will go elsewhere to shop. Lack of parking will also drive away would be business starters.

Rochford Town Centre Area Action Plan - Issues and Options

Representation ID: 16044

Received: 28/10/2009

Respondent: Mr Robert Hurst

Representation Summary:

main issues are:
1.Having a Police Station that is closed outside of normal office hours. Lack of police in town to deter loitering by youths in the square. Feeling of being unsafe after dark because of this.
2. Non enforcement of the 'Do not Enter' box at the entrance to West St causes DAILY road blockages through tailbacks. Has been like this for too long!
3. Too many charity shops, creates a run down appearance.
4. Trying to create a cafe culture in a pedestrianised town square is not what we need, we need more interesting shops

We would agree with the bus service comments in this section. Passenger shelters are a basic requirement for town centre stops to encourage users of buses.

We would be pleased to work with the Council to improve bus stop signage and stop information.
