Rochford Town Centre Area Action Plan - Issues and Options

* W.I Hall is always in use, yet disabled people cannot use this as access is limited.
* This is excluding disabled people from using this hall. Disabled people want to be equal and have equal rights.
* Dalys Road has no zebra crossings. The pavements are narrow, with insufficient room for pedestrians and wheelchair users and pedestrians and parents with pushchairs.
* Wheelie bins located on the pavement are an obstruction and it is very difficult to navigate around them if you are a disabled person.
* The Square itself is very difficult to navigate, in particular the chemists which is accessible by uneven narrow pavements, the cash machine is inaccessible as it is reached only by steps, and the bus stop makes the pavements even more narrow, making it even more difficult to navigate.
* Tuesdays in particular, when it is market day, are extremely difficult for a disabled person in the Square. The pavements are very narrow and busy and it is very difficult to navigate them.
* It would be very useful to have a separate Post Office - perhaps in the old Library building - as the current location at the back of the shop, with narrow aisles - is very difficult to get to.
* The new Co-Op and Library are very good facilities. The Bakers is also very good although again the space within it is limited making it difficult for those with wheelchairs or pushchairs.
* It is not very easy to get access to the Doctors Surgery.
* Rochford Town Centre does need updating, and consideration needs to be given as to how to make the Town Centre and its facilities accessible to all.
* Hope the train station is revamped to make it more accessible, especially from car park.
* Foliage on Heritage Way overgrowing and in other places.
