In the current economic climate it is ridiculous to suggest that this amount of jobs will be created. In addition there is no guarantee that any jobs created will be for local people so could just result in a greater influx of people to an already crowded district.

This would be a fantastic addition to the area. The skills and training opportunities for local people would be invaluable.
Yes it would attract people from outside the area with the required skills. But if they are contributing to the economy as a whole and likely training local people, I can't see that as a negative aspect at all.

Either the permission will be restricted to classes B1 and B2 or not. To say that non B1 /B2 uses may be acceptable to support the operation means that in practice there are no restrictions. This policy is therefore worthless.
Also this is inconsistent with policy E2 in which all applications will be required to make financial provision for walking and cycling facilities. Here it is only "expected". This has no meaning or weight at all!

This area is mainly Greenfield land. SUDS should be incorporated for all new development. This would not only ensure reduction in surface water run-off but would also improve the water quality. There may be biodiversity benefits as well, depending on the type of SUDS selected, e.g. swales and attenuation ponds.

what is a 'high-quality business park' and what are the 'eco-friendly business start-up units? It sounds like a crass sweetener to allow for the removal of the environmental protection of the green-belt?
Sadly, the town is already full of empty businesses and business parks.

The number of jobs directly related to airport expansion does not justify the increase in environmental pollution and noise pollution consequent to airport expansion.
The overall expansion of the airport is justified on the basis of an increase in jobs, but the document does not specify how many additional jobs the expansion of the airport brings, compared to the increase in size of the business park, which is possible to achieve without growing the airport. i.e. how many jobs will there be in MRO and small operators themselves. It is likely to be in the hundreds. This number of jobs needs to be put against the environmental consequences of carbon intensive travel, and the noise pollution for many thousands of people living under the flight path. It does not add up to a good deal for Southend.

Once again 'it is expected' has been used so NOTHING is definite. Such airy fairly terms should NOT be used in a 'consultation' document. As for walking & cycling in the area, who will want to indulge in these activities with the noise & pollution of low flying aircraft directly overhead.

Again the generalalities of "expected" a "contribution" , "overly prescriptive" mean this is what we want you to think you will get, but you wont.
In the current ecconomical climate, who in there right minds is going to take up these business premises that come with additional costs to fund the bike rides & walk ways.
There are plenty of empty industrial sites that are crying out for tennents without the rental premium of the parks & walks.

There are footpaths used by the public that run to the right of the building works and left of the rugby pitches. They proceed across fields, past pillboxes and at the north of the airfield head towards the golf course. What is the plan to protect this walk, and will there be a pedestrian bridge over the new dual carriagemwy?

STRONGLY OBJECT TO ALL EXPANSION. Do minimum or preferably no expansion. The increase in aircraft noise for us residents will become intolerable, emissions will increase. The road system cannot cope with current traffic levels. If 2m passenger movements are reached this will require about 4000 extra car journeys per day!!! Imagine the road upgrading work for the next few years that would be required. This area has a high percentage of elderly people who hardly fly. Who will the expansion benefit, people flying from outside the region and the business people and major shareholders who will make millions of pounds.

There is no proven demand for the additional space and could have the effect of drawing businesses from other industrial thereby damaging existing occupation. Negating the claim of extra jobs.Jeopardising the previously fiercely protected greenbelt is unjustified.

In addtion to my comments aboput the roads. I note that it states would not be too prescriptive in the use of this land. Reading between the lines this must mean the intention would more than likely be used for more retail units. Which would cause more pressure on existing retailers in Southend.

Yet more green belt being taken, and for no good purpose with so many industrial units in the area vacant. Just how eco friendly will the units be given that they have been built on green belt land and are subjected to huge amounts of noise and pollution and who is going to want to walk and cycle out there?

This will have a negative on:-
1. Environment (noise and pollution)
2. Wildlife and greenbelt
3. Surrounding residential properties
4. Public Services (Health and Education)
5. Infrastructure (congestion)
I dont believe the sweetner on job creation given the current climate so dont be fooled by this one. I can't see many companies wanting to invest in this proposal.

I strongly object to this airport, and ask you to consider local residents quality of life - there are a high proportion of young families in this area and to be blighted by this expansion seems grossly unfair just so someone can make a quick buck. Most of the reasons given to support the expansion are spurious and I hope a lot of people at Eddie Stobart are losing sleep thinking of the misery their plans would cause to thousands of local residents. Please reconsider.

It is good to see both Rochford and Southend Councils looking ahead and facilitating the employment opportunities that will be needed in the area in the coming years.
Aviation related businesses should be particularly encouraged, both to help underscore the viability of the airport, and in providing an 'aviation cluster' centre of excellence.

Business park, once again job figures are given, I am assuming these figures are for spaces available for jobs to be created, are there any companies willing to take on more staff and create more jobs, or are we just simply closing down other esates and moving people around. We already have green space, this is just to make the paperwork look good
