We already have adequate transport links. We do not need an airport. What consideration has been given to alternative use of the site?

Southend is currently over supplied with vacant office space so it would seem to be a folly to create even more office space at Southend Airport. There would, however, need to be adequate on-site warehousing and temporary storage facilities located in and around the airport with perhaps a facility to enable airfreight to be onward carried by rail at night, thereby relieving the pressure on local roads.

The mix of employment sectors in the area demonstrates that increased employment is not dependent upon aviation expansion.
