Having lived in the Hockley area for over 30 years, I know that Eldon way as a business area is between 30-40 years old. While I agree some units are empty, this area could be developed in its own right without the need for housing. I do not agree that this site should be turned into a residential area and object to the large scale chages proposed for the village. Hockley has a relatively small community and it seems the only reason changes are being proposed is so that more houses can be built. At present the space and facilities for the homes are not in place but once these changes have been made, what is there to stop further housing developments given that the centre of Hockley would have the amenities to support this.
