Hockley is a commuter village. Residents from surrounding areas travel to and park at the station to get to London, and many Hockley residents walk. The bus service has been reduced from every 10 minutes to one an hour, nos. 7 and 8. Cars are essential to Hockley residents, and need to be accommodated. Since Tesco contributed to the Cherry Orchard Way, traffic congestion in Hockley has become a problem.
