I broadly support the development of Southend London Airport. It is time we had a local airport that is an asset to this area and provides a much needed boost to employment. It is the responsibility of the council to ensure that environmental concerns are carefully balanced against the disadvantages of increased development. The alternative is to see the airport disappear and be swamped by housing estates. With the looming Olympic Games this is a unique opportunity to shape the future development of this area and add to the local infrastructure in a positive way.
